Recent Developments and Current Estate Planning Issues
Scott Bieber and Sarah Chang will present a one-hour presentation on recent developments in estate planning and some current estate planning techniques. This will include a review of recent court cases and changes in federal and state laws impacting estate planning. Scott and Sarah will also touch on recent thinking in estate planning as gathered from a variety of resources such as professional journals and attendance at national and local estate planning seminars.
Included in their presentation will be discussion of the following topics:
- The SECURE Act, its impact on clients and their estate planning;
- The Illinois Trust Code, effective as of January 1, 2020;
- Silent Trusts;
- Drafting for long-term trusts;
- Drafting in light of recent developments and the changing landscape of estate planning laws.

Scott Bieber's practice focuses in the areas of family wealth preservation, federal transfer taxation and family business planning.

Sarah counsels clients in developing comprehensive estate plans through the use of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and charitable giving strategies. She is also experienced in tax shelter entity structuring and transferring ownership of real property.
